There is more rain falling in Dade City. A weather pattern has developed that produces thunderstorms from noon until 3 or 4 p.m. I did some work for the park manager this morning. We replaced broken plumbing supplying one of the RV sites. This aging park has an aging water supply system. Watching for geysers of water is part of the job. The park is strewn with old oak trees. Hundreds of trees cover the park that occasionally shed their older limbs when storms blow through. A recent storm persuaded a limb to fall that destroyed a footbridge crossing the spring-fed creek bisecting the front and back half of the grounds. A lamp pole came down when the footbridge fell. We chained the pole to the back of the tractor and dragged it to the back field. Returning to the bridge, we used the bucket on the tractor to pick up some cut-up pieces of the limb that fell. They went to the back field as well. There's a smell I'm associating with the earth. Working in the dirt, it's a smell that carries with me into the afternoon. I met the owner of the park. He's a concert promoter and local businessman. The music will be starting soon. There is a lot of work to do before the winter festivals start. I'll run the bush-hog over the grass in the back field tomorrow and start mowing the front area on Thursday.
I'm disappointed that I didn't get to ride the BMW today. I'd hoped to take her out for a ride in the country. Though I've been out each day to run an errand, I haven't taken a simple pleasure ride to some new location. Tomorrow? We'll see.
I don't know how long I'll stay. I'm happy to work for the break on the rent. It's fun to do this sort of maintenance. I'm happy.
