Just before bedtime last night, Christmas Night, I heard a sprinkling on the roof vent cover in the kitchen. I peeped outside and saw a frozen rain or snow streaming by under the street lamp in the back. This morning I could see an inch or so of snow covering the ground. There's an inch of snow on the picnic table and on the tarpaulin covered Moto-Guzzi. The street is covered and the pasture in back is covered. The yucca have a white hilite on each of their spines.
Venturing out in the cold, with my Florida sandals, my toes went numb crunching around to check on the waste outlets. All of the lines had an inch of snow, which must be serving as an extra layer of insulation, as the water pipes were unfrozen. Usually running water is a late morning luxury, not a frozen early morning inconvenience.
So with a high of 35 degrees today, my plans for doing laundry in Santa Clara may be delayed. The KOA here does have washers and dryers, so maybe it's time to to throw a load of whites, :-) on this snowy post-Christmas holiday. Happy New Year to all!
