Minding the fort

More and more rain today. Windy and I have been getting a little stir crazy, itching to get out of the RV.  We decided to stay home and clean.  The rain started to pool on the roof and started to leak inside.  It's tough to patch up the roof while it's raining. I tried to get a tarp over the leaking area, but the pooling water ran beneath the tarp and into the unidentified leaky spot. I tried to get some tape on the window seam that appeared to be leaking, but the leak only slowed. An idea surfaced. The truck has been a bit off center since I'd moved it from RV site #1 to #4. I leveled it by driving onto a couple of blocks of wood.  This sent the flow of water off of the roof to the other side. Another leak appeared on the other side in the bedroom.  That was a leak I thought I'd dealt with successfully. Not so.  But at least it was a leak I could deal with rather than the leak up front. Out came the bucket, in this case a small tupperware container and I placed it under the drip. A new leak appeared in the bathroom.  The bath vent has never leaked before this, but since it is over the tub and shower, the drip just goes down the drain.  That was fortunate, eh? So, rather than Windy and I heading out, we're home minding the fort.

No more leaks now, and the rain is letting up.  It's the nature of storms to be unpredictable. Tropical Storm Isaac is passing far to the West, but the rain bands are numerous here on the East coast of Florida. There's very little rain on the West coast now. Having left the West coast to avoid the effects of the storm, it proves the unpredictability of tropical weather here in Florida.  What fun!

I read some history on flooding here at Lake Monroe.  Tropical Storm Fay flooded the area with rains after she stalled and just rained on the area.  Although Isaac is slowing and strengthening at this writing, I can't imagine he could drop as much rain here as Fay.  I'm going to walk to the lake...Windy, you want to go?
