Bayshore Blvd is often touted as having the longest continuous sidewalk in the US. It is a long sidewalk. The continuous portion runs at least 5 miles. It is a popular place for walking, jogging, running, roller-blading, and bicycling. There are the occasional fishermen offering live shrimp or frozen squid to their wary prey. The water has seen various levels of pollution. It seems relatively clean these past several years. I've seen the seagrass return to the sea floor. There's usually plenty of baitfish visible. I've also seen schools of mackeral and jack feeding. This morning, dolphin lazily surfaced and dove in the shallows.
There's a man who walks on Bayshore whom I spoke to 3 or 4 years ago. I posted a short note on this blog back then. I remember thinking that if I could control my impulsive energy some, and get a little more serenity than urgency in my life, I would advance from running 4 miles per hour to a peaceful amble , as he does. As I walked past him today, I knew I'd learned some degree of control. Then I went back to the running interval of my routine. I'm halfway there.
