The Fuse Has Been Lit

I got a call from the realtor on Wednesday. He told me that he'd shown my condo and that the renter had put down a deposit. He wants to move in this weekend. I told him that I would be out by June 1st. So the fuse is lit. As the day gets closer, I'll be thinking of all the preparations I have not made. The sense of drama and urgency creeping into my serenity and calm can be disabling on occasion. I feel helpless, and head for the freezer. Ice cream has been helping the beat back the fear. Anyway...I'll be full-time RVing in the old Moho in a little less than two weeks. I still have some charging issues to fix in the wiring for the coach battery. And then there are the rear brake issues. Packing has been a challenge. I'm sorting everything I own into 4 regions. Things I'll take with me, things I'm willing to put into storage, things I'll donate to charity, and things going to the dump. I'm fortunate. I've been through this a couple of years ago. The last big roadtrip forced me to touch everything I own. It's a healthy process. I like letting go. The toughest items to toss out are the beat up old T-shirts from old road trips. I have Harley of Butte T-shirt from my trip to AK. Then there's the old wolf shirt from the Alaska highway. My Newfoundland T-shirt is still in pretty good shape though. That was only a couple of years ago. (Deep sigh.) This will be a little different. The long-range plan is to go to Sitka, AK. That could be on the 2015 loop. I can't see getting that far north and west starting this late in the year. I'll have some limitations. And can you picture the old Moho trudging over I-70 over the Continental Divide?  Rumbling into Denver would be awesome, but west from there may be a challenge.
This is  a funny story. My friend Scott is planning to keep some of my furniture for me. He said, "I don't think that your RV will make it to Alaska."  That lit the mechanic's pride in me instantly. It was a dare, to my ears. I'm thinking that the old Dodge is up for the challenge. The brakes you say? Ok, going down the other side of the Rockies could be a problem. What fun! I'm all in now. Let's roll!
The plan is to stick to Tampa Bay for the month of June. By July, the 1st rent check should be rolling in, and I'll have had time to put the BMW back together. I also said I would help Andy put a clutch in his Beemer, and replace the seals in his tranny. What a hoot. This almost sounds as though life is being lived to the maximum. No more clowning around this 100 degree heat and humidity all summer. If I head out of town in July, Tennessee Country Campgrounds could be my 1st stop. I could run west through Memphis and Eureka Springs, AR from there. Then...well if it's cold, I head South, if it's still warm, I'll head West...Woohoo! Let's roadtrip!
