Hiking Clear Creek Trail I got some neat little inspirations. Standing close to one of the pines near the rushing stream I heard the words, "We are your Mother." The meaning I inferred was about being loved by Mother Nature and that should choose to, Mother Nature is always there. For me, it was not trivial, but listening to messages from the trees, well, take it for what it may be worth to you. At the trailhead there was a grandma and two kids playing near the stream. Grandma said it was their favorite place to come to play. A long straight pine had had a groove cut into one side and layed in the creek so that a stream of water ran down the log's length. It looked like a great place for the kids to play. Notably, her .45 Automatic was laying next to the picnic lunch basket. She said that was just in case the bears showed up. It was a little intimidating to me.
I came home and though wanting lunch and a nap, andI settled for lunch and got my motorcycle gear together. Seriously low on cat food, Windy encouraged my immediate departure for Angel Fire, about 20 miles from camp. The food store prices were surprisingly inexpensive for many items. Fruits and vegatales were as cheap as I've seen all summer. The meats were reasonable also. The only really pricey items were the cookies. All of the standard brands were 5 dollars a bag. I didn't need all the sugar anyway, I told myself. And I guess not surprisingly for a ski slope town were the 4 aisles of alcoholic beverages. There must be quite a market for those as the snow comes and the skiers come to town. There's a small airport in Angel Fire with what seemed a surprisingly long airstrip. I checked the flyers in the rack outside the realtor's office and saw that all of the ads were for homes starting at 300k. Definitely not in my price range!
I was home in time to get a fire going and make dinner. Windy insisted on calling it an early night so we were asleep by 8:30 p.m. What a life! If only I can keep the machinery of transportation going, I'm a happy camper. Tampa just seems further and further behind me. The other thought is that there is really no place on Earth like this one. I'll miss it when I am gone.
