What a whirlwind trip! Left El Paso for flight to Denver and connection to Tampa. The puddle jumper I flew to Denver was so small that I had to duck navigating down the aisle to my seat. Fortunately the clostrophobia was manageable and the flight was smooth. The flight to Tampa was fun. I met a guy and his wife who were playing a bluegrass cruise to the Caymans. He had his guitar and his wife pulled up the You Tube video, "United Breaks Guitars." We had a good laugh. I'd heard about the Valerie Smith cruise before and told him to listen to her awesome fiddle player. We swapped more stories before parting in Tampa. My buddy Jason picked me up at the airport and he was a sight for sore eyes. I really miss my friends over in Pinellas County. My friend Buzz brought me the unit where the car was stored. I went to the beach for a walk, and then tackled the storage units back in Tampa. The Toyota started right up, and I drove her back to NM without a hitch. Good weather all the way but for a brief ice storm in the hill country near Ft. Stockton, Tx. Scary. I had quite quite a bit of good fortune at the storage units. I was sorting them into the 4 piles. Stuff to store, stuff to donate to Salvation Army, stuff to bring back to NM, and stuff to trash. After an hour so, I noticed the regular auction crowd gathering at the entrance. Could there be an auction today? There was! I'd hung around the auction crowd before. These guys carry fat wads of cash around bidding on abandoned units. I approached several of them about my having two units and being willing to let stuff go cheap. Two hours later, and a lot of price haggling, I'd reduced my storage from two 10x14 units,(costing me $200/month), to one 5x10 at 50/month. And I had enough cash to pay for the trip out and back, and then some. It was all quite serendipitous to say the least.
So here I am back in Silver City. These people are just son warm and friendly. It's a great place to spend the winter, and having a home here wouldn't be the worst thing that could happen. It's all God's business at this point. Right now I'm simply finding a place to put all the stuff I brought home, getting the Moho into good shape again, and reuniting with Windy. Poor little cat was so glad to see me Inthought his vocal chords would be raspy before the day was over. He's glad to be back at there Moho as well. Stay tuned, I'll figure out how to post pictures one of these days!
