What a Great Life

As Jimmy Stewart said, "It's a Wonderful Life". Snowbound, I had a great day. The Moto-Guzzi had icicles hanging from it's tarp this morning. She really wasn't ready to navigate even the 100 yards of packed snow between her parking spot and the paved road. And even if we made to the road without mishap, the black ice still worries me. Any shady spot that didn't get any afternoon sun, or some unplowed section of the blacktop on Rte 180 into Silver, could send us to the pavement. I chose to stay in most of the day. But I got a number of chores done in preparation for the trip to Tampa. I've cleared out the front storage areas in the living room, largely of accumulated motor fluids left from my travel time. I've made some room for all of the summer clothes I'd brought that won't be worn until springtime. (That is unless I bring a pair of shorts to Florida next week!) I stomped out a pathway through the snow, (now 6"), down to the camp store. I did a bit of laundry, and got a ride this evening into town to meet with some friends. I also rode with a camp neighbor named Al, I kind and generous soul, to the grocery store for the small stock of food I'll need until my flight on Wednesday. The gathering in town lifted my spirits considerably. There's plenty of alone time for meditation and the like, but getting into town to socialize is a big plus. The folks in Silver have been just tremedously welcoming. I think that there's a presumption that I've relocated here, and am in Silver permanently. It's possible, and I've thought about finding a more permanent home here, but I'm still heavily invested in being a full-time RVer. This will be a great place to winter, and it would be a wonderful community to live in, but I'm not ready to make a decision like that just yet. It's a wonderful life here in Silver City, but the wander lust still moves me. I thought a little about making this a home base for some long distance motorcycle trips up the West Coast, but again, it doesn't seem time to retire the bus just yet. What a wonderful life! I'm very grateful to be right where I am at.
